2) Cookies

Cookies are used on the Site. Cookies are text files recorded on a computer medium, which allow you to record certain parameters and data communicated to the computer system through the browser used by you. These tools therefore allow an analysis of your habits in using the Site, for different purposes: execution of computer authentication, monitoring sessions, storing information on specific configurations concerning users accessing the server, storing preferences, etc.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files sent by the website to the user’s terminal (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then retransmitted to the website on the next visit of the same user. A cookie cannot recall any other data from the user’s hard drive, nor transmit computer viruses or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. Some of the functions of cookies may be transferred to other technologies. In this document, the term ‘cookie’ refers to both cookies themselves and all similar technologies.

Type of cookies

Cookies can be first or third party, where “first party” means cookies that report as a domain of the site, while “third party” means cookies that are related to external domains.

Third-party cookies are necessarily installed by an external entity, always defined as “third party”, not managed by the site. These parties may also install first-party cookies, saving their own cookies on the website domain.

Another type of cookie is the so-called “Flash Cookie” (Local Shared Objects), used within Adobe Flash Player to deliver certain content, such as video clips or animations, in order to remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are stored on your device, but they are managed through a different interface than that provided by the browser used.

Nature of cookies

Regarding the nature of cookies, there are different types:

Technical cookies

Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “to transmit a communication on an electronic communications network, or as far as is strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service.” (cf. art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).

They are not used for any other purpose and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into:

  • Navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal browsing and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas); they are in fact necessary for the proper functioning of the site;
  • analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies where used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself, in order to improve the performance of the site;
  • Functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service rendered to the same. For the installation of these cookies, the prior consent of users is not required (more information in the section Cookie management below).

Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are intended to create profiles related to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the same as part of browsing the network.

The consent of the data subject is required for the use of profiling cookies. According to the measure (more information in the section Cookie management below) the user can authorize or deny the consent to the installation of cookies through the options provided in the “Cookie management” section.

In the case of third-party cookies, the site does not have direct control over individual cookies and cannot control them (it can neither install them directly nor delete them). You can still manage these cookies through your browser settings (follow the instructions below), or the sites indicated in the “Cookie management” section.

The User is therefore invited to check on the third party website indicated in the table below.
